My Photo Copy
Writing in? Include your iPhone model, your iOS version, the app version (Settings → About), and what the drive is — make, capacity, and whether it has its own power. If a backup failed, the Result screen lists what could not be copied and why; a photo of that screen answers most questions on its own.
iOS Limited Access gives an app a rendered preview of a photo rather than the original file. There would be nothing to copy and nothing to verify. My Photo Copy reads the original only to write it to the destination you picked; nothing is uploaded and nothing is analysed. You can withdraw the permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
That is iOS, and it is deliberate on our side. The app declares no background execution mode, so iOS suspends it shortly after it leaves the screen. The run pauses and continues when you come back — nothing is lost and nothing is copied twice. For a first full backup, put the phone on a charger and leave My Photo Copy on screen.
If "Optimise iPhone Storage" is on, most of your originals live in iCloud rather than on the phone, and the app has to download each one from Apple before it can copy it. iOS does not tell an app whether it is on Wi‑Fi or on mobile data, so the app cannot decide for you. Start a large first backup on Wi‑Fi, or turn iCloud downloads off in Settings → Backup, in which case only what is already on the phone is copied and the rest is listed as not copied.
The Result screen names every one of them and says why. The usual reasons are an original that iCloud would not deliver, a drive that filled up, a drive that was unplugged mid-run, or a file the photo library itself cannot produce. Run the backup again: what is already on the drive is not copied a second time, and only the gaps are retried.
Plug the drive into a computer and copy the year folders back. There is nothing to unpack — the files on the drive are ordinary photos and videos, in ordinary folders, exactly as your camera wrote them. The app has no restore feature, and it does not need one.
Open Settings → My Photo Copy Pro and use Restore. Purchases are tied to the Apple Account that made them, so make sure the device is signed in to that account. Family Sharing works with both products; the family member has to have sharing switched on for their purchases.
Apple handles all refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Write to us as well if something went wrong — we would rather fix it.
iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → My Photo Copy → Cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you have paid for runs to its end.
